1/2 cup milk of choice (dairy, almond, or oat milk)
1/4 cup plain Greek yogurt
1 tablespoon chia seeds
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 medium apple, finely diced
1 tablespoon maple syrup or honey
1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
A pinch of salt
Instructions
Step 1: Combine Base Ingredients: In a mason jar or a resealable container, add the rolled oats, chia seeds, ground cinnamon, and a pinch of salt. Stir these dry ingredients together to ensure the cinnamon is evenly distributed.
Step 2: Add Wet Ingredients: Pour in your chosen milk, Greek yogurt, maple syrup, and vanilla extract. Use a spoon to stir everything thoroughly. Make sure there are no clumps of oats or chia seeds stuck at the bottom of the container.
Step 3: Fold in the Apples: Add the finely diced apples to the mixture. Gently fold them in so they are submerged in the liquid. This prevents the apples from browning and allows them to soften slightly overnight.
Step 4: Chill and Set: Secure the lid on your container and place it in the refrigerator. Let the oats soak for at least 4 hours, though leaving them overnight for about 8 hours provides the best, creamiest texture.
Step 5: Stir and Enjoy: In the morning, remove the lid and give the oats a good stir. If the mixture is too thick, you can add a splash of extra milk to reach your desired consistency.
