Ingredients

Scale
  • 1.5 lbs salmon fillets, skin removed and cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 3 tablespoons honey
  • 2 tablespoons low-sodium soy sauce (or coconut aminos)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • Optional: Sesame seeds and chopped green onions for garnish

Instructions

  1. Step 1: Prep the Salmon: Start by removing the skin from your salmon fillets if they aren’t already skinless. Pat the fish very dry with paper towels. Dry fish results in better caramelization. Cut the salmon into uniform 1-inch cubes so they all cook at the same rate.
  2. Step 2: Create the Glaze: In a medium mixing bowl, whisk together the honey, soy sauce, olive oil, minced garlic, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper. This mixture will serve as both the seasoning and the glaze that creates the sticky texture.
  3. Step 3: Marinate the Bites: Add the salmon cubes to the bowl with the glaze. Gently toss them using a spoon or your hands until every piece is thoroughly coated. For maximum flavor, you can let them sit for 5 to 10 minutes, but it isn’t strictly necessary if you are in a rush.
  4. Step 4: Air Fry: Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C). Arrange the salmon cubes in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Make sure they aren’t touching to allow the air to circulate. Cook for 8 to 10 minutes. At the halfway mark, gently shake the basket to ensure even browning.
  5. Step 5: Garnish and Serve: Once the salmon is opaque and the edges are slightly charred, remove them from the air fryer. Transfer to a plate and garnish with sesame seeds and green onions if desired.
