Ingredients

Scale
  • 1.5 lbs chicken thighs or breasts, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon sesame seeds (optional garnish)
  • 2 green onions, sliced (optional garnish)

Instructions

  1. Start by patting your chicken pieces dry with a paper towel. This helps them sear better in the pan. Place the chicken in a medium bowl and toss with salt and black pepper until evenly coated.
  2. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Once the oil is shimmering, add the chicken pieces in a single layer. Cook for about 3 to 4 minutes per side until they are golden brown and cooked through. Remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside on a clean plate.
  3. In the same skillet, reduce the heat to medium. Add the minced garlic and cook for 30 seconds until it becomes fragrant, being careful not to let it burn. Pour in the honey, soy sauce, and apple cider vinegar. Stir well, scraping up any browned bits from the bottom of the pan.
  4. Let the sauce simmer for about 2 to 3 minutes until it begins to thicken and bubble. Return the cooked chicken to the skillet. Toss the chicken thoroughly so every piece is coated in the honey garlic glaze. Let it cook for one more minute until the sauce is thick and sticky.
  5. Remove the skillet from the heat. Sprinkle with sesame seeds and sliced green onions if you like. Serve immediately while the glaze is warm and glossy.
